Zombies have always been and probably will always be a popular material for media, be it television, movies, or video games, as can be attested to by the scores and scores of zombie-related things of all quality levels. Personally, I’m a rabid consumer of zombie movies no matter how critically acclaimed or critically terrible they are (trust me, I’ve seen a lot of shitty zombie films and I’ve loved almost every single one) – but with zombie survival games, save for a few exceptions, once you’ve played one you’ve played them all.

Techland’s single player/4-player co-op, action survival game Dying Light seems to be trying a new approach to the zombie genre. The first trailer for the game was shown at last week’s E3 conference and is unfortunately all CGI and lacking actual gameplay, but with its usage of a catchy song and awesome parkour moves, it still looks pretty interesting.

Dying Light is set in a run down city devastated by the zombie outbreak. As the main character, you must battle not only the mindlessly violent brain-munchers, but other humans – because in this world, your own survival trumps everyone else’s. In order to survive, players utilize both weapons and cool-looking acrobatics (aka parkouring) in order to fight and/or avoid enemies, as they make their way toward a cache of supplies.
