The pre-order packages for Run The Jewels’ sophomore album RTJ2 have been announced, and besides the typical, reasonably priced CD/LP/t-shirt/poster bundles, there also exist a number of bonus pre-order packages whose descriptions range from hilarious to really fucking hilarious. ‘Beyond The Lights’ Trailer: Starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Nate Parker

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Beyond The Lights is the love story between a talented musician and the young police officer who saves her from a suicide attempt.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who received critical praise for her performance in this year’s period drama Belle, stars as the violet-haired superstar Noni Jean. Nate Parker, who plays her love interest Kaz Nicol, has previously starred in Non-Stop, Red Tails, and The Great Debaters (alongside Denzel Washington).

Beyond The Lights also stars Minnie Driver and Danny Glover.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Beyond The Lights is the story of Noni Jean, a hot new award-winning artist who is primed for superstardom. But not all is what it seems, and the pressures cause Noni to nearly fall apart – until she meets Kaz Nicol, a promising young cop and aspiring politician who’s been assigned to her detail. Drawn to each other, Noni and Kaz fall fast and hard, despite the protests of those around them to put their career ambitions ahead of their romance. But can Kaz’s love give Noni the courage to find her own voice and break free to become the artist she was meant to be?

Beyond The Lights will be released on November 14, 2014.

Beyoncé & Nicki Minaj Drop Surprise “Flawless” Remix

“We escalate up in this bitch like elevators – of course sometimes shit go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator!”

SURPRISE! REMIX! Just when I thought I couldn’t love Queen Bey and Nicki Minaj more, they suddenly release this remix of “***Flawless,” in which Beyonce drops a wry line about the recent Solange/Jay Z elevator scandal, and Nicki spits one of my favorite verses since the one on Kanye West’s “Monster.”

Mayday, mayday, earth to bitches/slap these hoes on they ass like we birthin’ bitches/the Queen of rap, slayin’ with Queen B/if you ain’t on the team you playin’ for Team D.

Click the link to check it out. The track’s even put automatically on repeat so you can just dance all night without having to tap the play button again. SO THOUGHTFUL <3

Watch: Official Music Video for Grieves’ “Serpents”

Earlier today Seattle hip hop artist Grieves dropped the second music video from his recent album, Winter & The Wolves.

The visuals are simple and grim, and mostly features Grieves singing solemnly at the camera as a blonde woman dances around him, but it’s a decent watch. Check out “Serpents” and the full list of tour dates below:

Single Review: Sia’s “Chandelier” Sounds Like Rihanna (If Rihanna Could Sing Like Sia)

Sia is returning the favor.

A year and a half after Rihanna does Sia doing Sia’s hit “Diamonds,” Sia hits back with “Chandelier,” in which Sia does Rihanna doing Rihanna if Rihanna could sing like Sia.

If you can make it through the first verse, during which you’ll find yourself thinking things such as “What in the world is she saying?” or “Was she drunk when she recorded this?” to “OMG Sia’s having a stroke!” you’ll find an immense chorus, with some massive belting which Sia quickly flips into an awesome falsetto that’ll give you chills. It’s all so instant and is an admirable bid for Sia to finally become a household name, rather than that chick with the bangs that wrote the best songs on Christina Aguilera’s Bionic*.

The only other issue with “Chandelier” is there lacks a proper bridge, which is becoming all too common in modern pop music, and a respected, talented writer like Sia should be ashamed at the laziness of it all. Take us there Sia!

In the end, Sia has given us a party song that doesn’t feel like a party song. So to that I say: “Party on, Sia!”

Listen to “Chandelier” above.

*Seriously, if you haven’t heard the Sia songs on Aguilera’s Bionic, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Listen here and here.
