Here’s a look at the top 11 most talked about games to come out of the 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo (randomly ordered, of course), along with my first impressions of the trailers, whether or not I’d throw any money at those games, and when exactly you can throw money at those games, provided you want to.
Note: For the “Will I Buy It” sections, let’s just assume I have a giant stockpile of cash I am able to spend willy nilly, but am still moderately stingy about it (which, let’s be real, is exactly what would happen if I were to ever become rich) instead of the flat broke, Can’t Even Afford The Consoles For These Let Alone The Games Themselves person that I actually am. Let’s get to the list!
1. Dragon Age: Inquisiton (PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4)
BioWare has released a trailer for the third game in their Dragon Age series, complete with flaming skeletons, gameplay footage, and story set-up.
“You walked out of the Fade, and our soldiers found you. The only one who escaped a blast that killed thousands,” Cassandra voiceovers dramatically, before launching into a description of demons coming in through the Breach threatening to destroy the world.
It’s still too soon to tell if the game’s actually going to be any good, but from what I can tell from this trailer, Dragon Age: Inquisition looks really pretty. Like, ridiculously pretty. The game has been described by devs as significantly more open world than its predecessor (a definite plus) and if that last image of the trailer with all the people at the table represents how many companions we’ll be getting in game, well, that’s pretty freaking awesome.
Besides, I’ll always be here for Sassy!Varric.
Dragon Age: Inquisition comes to PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One on October 7, 2014.
