Rejoice Disney fans! The Jungle Book is now being brought to real life thanks to Walt Disney Pictures. The film will be a remake of the cartoon version that was inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s book of the same name, which was produced and released in 1967 by Walt Disney Productions. The story revolves around the life of a young boy named Mowgli (Neel Sethi), who after an accident in the jungle is taken and raised by a pack of wolves, while also being influenced by Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) the wise panther and Baloo (Bill Murray) the bear. Ultimately Bagheera realizes that it will be much safer for Mowgli to return to civilization and join the nearby man-village.
Although it is a Disney film, the trailer for the film gives us a much more thrilling portrayal; its suspenseful music and dark shots of the jungle make it safe to assume that there will be a lot of action and adventure throughout. Judging by the cinematography alone, it seems that this film will be filled with lively shots of the animals and the escapades they will lead Mowgli through.
Directed and produced by Jon Favreau, who is known for hit films such as Iron Man, the film will also feature a star-studded cast as the voices behind the animals: Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, and Bill Murray, just to name a few.
The Jungle Book will hit theaters April 15, 2016.
