Anne Hathaway has moved on since her days as a mere assistant in The Devil Wears Prada and has become a bright and shining CEO in her upcoming comedy The Intern. Hathaway plays Jules Ostin, the founder of a fashion site for which 70-year-old Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) has become an intern. And by the looks of the trailer, it seems the film is going to be an endearingly fun watch.
Written and directed by Nancy Meyers, who is known for working on The Parent Trap, It’s Complicated and Something’s Gotta Give, the story gives us a more charm-filled look into ageism in the business world with Robert De Niro as its subject of charisma and bravery as he breaks down the barriers he encounters throughout his internship.
The trailer is very simple and polished and yet does a great job accentuating the simple quips and wits that I’m sure will make this film loveable. It’s also the simplicity of the storyline that makes the film so intriguing: a 70-year-old retiree becomes an intern… what next?
The cast also features Nat Wolff (The Fault in Our Stars) and Adam Devine (Workaholics) as younger employees who work with Whittaker and learn a few things along the way. With a charming cast like this, its hard to think this film won’t make you laugh or smile.
The Intern will work its way into theaters September 25.
