The Gladers are out of the maze and thrown into an even bigger challenge in The Maze Runner‘s sequel, The Scorch Trials.
If you thought that Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and the rest of the Gladers might have a little bit of a break between escaping a giant maze and Grievers in the first film to this sequel, then you thought wrong. Even the start of the trailer pulls you in to yet even more high-paced action with Minho (Ki Hong Lee) frantically waking Thomas up from a dream in which he gets taken by WCKD as a child.
Thomas soon finds out that the only thing keeping him and his friends safe is WCKD. They were the ones who saved them at the end of the last film. The catch is that even though they’re keeping them safe from the Cranks in the outside world, WCKD seems to be conducting experiments on them and those they left behind. Deciding to risk it, Thomas and the rest of the Gladers decide to escape WCKD and try to make their way through the Scorch. It just won’t be that easy.
The Maze was one thing, but you kids won’t last one day in the Scorch.
With the help of Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito), most of them survive lightning strikes, Cranks, and some WCKD soldiers, but not all make it out alive.
The most exhilarating portion of the trailer was the last sequence in which we see Brenda get thrown to the side of a falling building and Thomas has to risk his own life to save hers.
I don’t want to say too much except join me in watching the trailer at least 5 times a day in anticipation of September.
And also, make sure to read the book series by James Dashner!
