“You will have a powerful Gift, but it’s how you use it that will show you to be good or bad.”
In a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans, seventeen-year-old Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world’s most powerful and violent witch. Nathan is hunted from all sides: nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. Now, Nathan has come into his own unique magical Gift, and he’s on the run–but the Hunters are close behind, and they will stop at nothing until they have captured Nathan and destroyed his father.

On March 24th, Penguin will publish HALF WILD, the second installment in Sally Green’s dark and captivating Half Bad trilogy. HALF WILD has already received two starred reviews, with Publishers Weekly raving that it “features the same powerful language, well-developed characters, fascinating magic, and harrowing action sequences as its predecessor and will leave its readers anxiously awaiting the final volume.”
When Half Bad released in the US, the critical response was resounding. TIME Magazine named Half Bad one of the “Best Books of 2014 So Far,” calling it “highly entertaining and dangerously addictive”. USA Today called it “refreshing” while The Boston Globe declared it “much more than a book about witches…a ruminative exploration of the nature of evil.”
US Weekly called Half Bad “gripping,” and io9 raved “Have you ever had the thing where you’re so absorbed in reading a book that you try to keep reading it while walking around on the street, only to come close to being hit by a bus?”
Critical acclaim was not only what made this incredible novel stand out, Half Bad smashed two Guinness World Records prior to release (most translated book by a debut author and most translated children’s book pre-publication), and the global success has only continued to grow with rights being sold into 50 foreign language territories and film rights sold to FOX, with Karen Rosenfelt (Twilight, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, The Book Thief) producing.
In Half Bad, readers were introduced to a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans. Seventeen-year-old Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world’s most powerful and violent witch. Not fitting into any one world, Nathan is hunted from all sides: nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. In HALF WILD, Nathan has finally come into his own unique magical Gift, and he’s on the run–but the Hunters are close behind, and they will stop at nothing until they have captured him and destroyed his father. Forever torn between the worlds of darkness and light, Nathan must finally make a decision that could sever his tenuous connections to either side.
Sally Green lives in north-west England. She has had various jobs and even a profession, but in 2010 she discovered a love of writing and now just can’t stop. She used to keep chickens, makes decent jam, doesn’t mind ironing, loves to walk in Wales even when it’s raining, and will probably never jog again. She really ought to drink less coffee. Half Bad is her first novel. Follow her @Sa11eGreen
