Based on the popular TV show from the 1960s, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a spy action-comedy directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, and Hugh Grant.
In the early 1960s, CIA agent Napoleon Solo and KGB operative Illya Kuryakin participate in a joint mission against a mysterious criminal organization, which is working to proliferate nuclear weapons. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
It looks fun and I generally enjoy Guy Ritchie films. I’m not familiar with the TV show, but it appears to be pretty cheeseball ’60s fare but not as funny as something like Get Smart, for example. The action scenes look pretty entertaining, so I’ll probably watch it as some point. What do you guys think?
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. opens in theaters on August 14, 2015.
