With everyone on the rush to produce original content for their platform in particular, it comes as no little surprise that gaming behemoths PlayStation have decided to unveil their own first scripted series in the form of Powers.
Powers, an adaptation of the hugely-acclaimed comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis, follows the lives of two Chicago PD detectives (Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward) as they investigate murder and other crimes surrounding superpowered individuals, who in this version of society are still extraordinary but common enough to be widely-known.
The show looks set to become the flagship selling point for PlayStation’s new media streaming network — the PSN (PlayStation Network) — and has finally shaken off nearly fifteen years of development hell, changing casts, networks, and even pilots in the interim, gathering actors such as Michelle Forbes, Noah Taylor, Olesya Rulin, and Adam Godley into the mix.
Fortunately, the footage and trailer released by PlayStation indicates this is set to be a solid, watchable, and enjoyable series for viewers to watch, and should be a great way for PlayStation to kickstart their attempts at live-action, original programming.
Powers will premiere March 10 on the PlayStation Network.
