9pm on FOX. “Lucious has to defend Empire’s IPO launch after one of his artists is involved in a shooting.” Read Sarah’s review of the first episode. I watched the premiere last week and, personally, I wasn’t a huge fan. In general, reviews have been fairly positive, but I thought the writing was awful and the characters (the three sons, in particular) were fairly one-dimensional archetypes. However, Taraji P. Henson really sparkles as Cookie; she would be the sole reason I tune into another episode of Empire.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
9pm on NBC. “A teenager is sexually assaulted and left for dead in an alley after attending a movie star’s party.”
9:30pm on ABC. “While on the way to the family’s annual ski trip, Dre teaches the kids about Martin Luther King Jr.”
10:30pm on Comedy Central. “The acclaimed comedy’s sophomore season will feature guest appearances by Amy Ryan, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Janeane Garolfalo, David Wain, Patricia Clarkson, and Alia Shawkat.”
Man Seeking Woman
10:30pm on FX. “Jay Baruchel experiences the ups and downs (well, mainly just the downs) of dating in this new comedy series that also stars Eric Andre and is based on Simon Rich’s short story collection ‘The Last Girlfriend on Earth’.” I’m actually really looking forward to this because the concept is so weird. Baruchel is pretty likable, too.
