Netflix has renewed Marco Polo for a 10-episode second season.
Christine has been recapping the first season of Marco Polo here on Pop Insomniacs. The series follows the adventures of famous merchant and traveler Marco Polo, played by Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy. The world of Marco Polo has been described as full of “greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue, and rivalry.” Critics have said that it’s basically Netflix attempting to do their own Game of Thrones in some way, but reviews have been mostly negative. Others have been somewhat positive in taking note of Marco Polo‘s redeemable qualities.
The standout has been British actor Benedict Wong, who plays Kublai Khan.
Netflix also announced the premiere date of Marvel’s Daredevil.
All 13 episodes of Tina Fey’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, starring Ellie Kemper, debuts March 6.
Bloodline, starring Kyle Chandler, will premiere March 20.
Grace and Frankie, with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, will premiere May 8.
