Better Call Saul, Vince Gilligan’s spin-off/semi-prequel to Breaking Bad, premieres February 8, 2015 on AMC.
The series will explore the life of Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) six years before his appearance on Breaking Bad, when Walt and Jesse ask him for legal representation. We’ll also get to see snippets of his life during and after the events of Breaking Bad. (In the final season, Saul got a new identity and was heading for Nebraska.)
Breaking Bad cast members Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have talked about being interested in appearing on the spin-off series as their iconic characters, but so far we only have Jonathan Banks reprising his old character Mike Ehrmantraut, an ex-cop turned hitman. In Better Call Saul, Mike will be Saul’s private investigator.
From the looks of things in the sneak peek, Saul and Mike don’t get off to a great start. There’s a great bit of physical comedy from Odenkirk as he struggles to get out of his car, with Mike giving him an eye roll.
Better Call Saul isn’t the only spin-off series in the works at AMC. The network is also planning a spin-off of The Walking Dead. Filming will take place in Philadelphia.
Let us know what you think of the sneak peek! Do you think Better Call Saul will live up to Breaking Bad‘s legacy?
