1. Jay-Z vs. Solange
The elevator fight seen ’round the world between Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z and her sister Solange took place at a Met Gala after party.
Video of the fight was leaked by TMZ and the footage showed Solange attacking Jay-Z and having to be held back by Beyonce’s security detail. We might never know what caused the fight, but the bad blood between Jay-Z and Solange has seemingly been squashed since he was invited to Solange’s wedding.
Beyonce later referenced the incident in the Nicki Minaj remix version of “Flawless” with the line, “Of course sometimes shit go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.” Notorious for ripping off their stories from actual headlines, Law & Order: SVU did their own reenactment of the fight in season 16, episode 2, “American Disgrace”.
2. Justin Bieber vs. Orlando Bloom
As far as celebrities who we never thought would cross paths — let alone get into a feud — go, 20-year-old Justin Bieber and “pushing 40s” Orlando Bloom take the cake. Their careers are vastly different; Bieber is a former tween idol turned lawless “piece of shit” and Bloom is primarily known as that dude from Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean.
We never would have thought that they even run in the same circles, but this feud might have been brewing as early as 2012. Bieber was reportedly hooking up with Bloom’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, 31-year-old Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, and this was what sparked their hatred for one another. It finally came to blows at a restaurant in Ibiza, Spain when Bloom allegedly took a swing at Bieber after the singer told him to, “Say hi to Miranda.” Ouch. I mean, can you blame him? The story gets even weirder, with eyewitnesses claiming that Leonardo DiCaprio was there to cheer Orlando Bloom on. You can watch some grainy video footage of the fight here.
Bloom’s Lord of the Rings co-star Dominic Monaghan even tweeted about the fight.
Bieber took some shots at Orlando Bloom on Instagram by posting pictures of Kerr but quickly deleted it (despite everything being screenshot immediately afterward, of course, because this is the Internet). Bloom had been spotted hanging out with Bieber’s ex-flame Selena Gomez, as well, presumably as some sort of revenge. Someone needs to tell these people about Iyanla: Fix My Life.
3. Wiz Khalifa vs. Amber Rose
When rapper Wiz Khalifa and model/actress Amber Rose first got together, we were convinced they were a match made in heaven and they would last… well, longer than they ended up lasting. One minute they’re in love and everything’s coming up roses. The next Amber Rose is filing for divorce.
The first wave of rumors alleged that Rose had cheated on Khalifa with Nick Cannon, of all people. But Rose took to Twitter to clear that all up: “Please stop with the fake stories. I would never ever ever cheat on my husband in a million years I think u guys know this… Unfortunately my now ex husband can’t say the same…”
Apparently, Khalifa had cheated on her with a pair of twins and she wasn’t ’bout that life. The two have a son together, born in February 2013, and Rose plans on taking full custody of him.
4. Martha Stewart vs. Gwyneth Paltrow
Martha Stewart and self-proclaimed lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow are currently engaged in a passive aggressive turf war. Both are incredibly privileged white women and one only has to go on Paltrow’s website Goop to see how out-of-touch she is, but it’s still one of the more memorable celebrity feuds of 2014. It started with an interview with Net-A-Porter where Stewart was asked about Paltrow and she replied, “She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
Paltrow appeared to shrug off the diss: “If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I’m so psyched. I really am.” And then she went on to hire Lisa Gersh, Stewart’s former chief executive officer, to be the new CEO of Goop.
Then came a new issue of Martha Stewart Living. Shots were fired:
It reads: “Every Thanksgiving table should be blessed with the presence of a long-married pair who bring out the best in each other, are completely enamored despite their differences.” The headline, of course, is referring to Paltrow’s divorce which was described as a “conscious uncoupling” in the press release announcement.
Martha does NOT play. The woman went to jail, after all — a fact that was used by Paltrow in her latest dig. Paltrow’s website recently released a recipe for “Jailbird Cake,” referring to Stewart’s five-month prison sentence for fraud. All the while, Goop is experiencing some financial trouble and may be in debt for $1.6 million.
5. Iggy Azalea vs. Nicki Minaj, Rah Digga, Snoop Dogg, Eminem
Australian “rapper” Iggy Azalea has been involved in a number of feuds this year.
First, there’s this tweet from Iggy before she was famous.
At the BET awards this year, Nicki Minaj appeared to take shots at Iggy for not writing her own lyrics: “What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it. No shade.” But the two appeared friendly in a video taken backstage at the 2014 VMAs.
Next, Iggy took issue with Rah Digga’s diss against her music: “Iggy Azalea, I can’t really get into her. Because it’s just not real to me. There is a white girl from Australia that spits in an Australian accent, and her name is Chelsea Jane. That I can get into. Teach me Australian Hip-Hop culture. Don’t come to America and try to convince me that you’re Gangsta Boo…We’re not going to believe you if you’re trying to convince us that you’re out here trap shooting. That’s the problem. They’re too many passes being given. When did it become wrong to call out people that don’t write their own rhymes? When did that become a crime in hip-hop?”
Then came Iggy’s beef with Snoop Dogg, which only came to an end when Iggy got T.I. to “handle it” by calling up Snoop. You can read A Brief History of their Internet feud over at BuzzFeed.
The latest comes from Eminem who threatened to rape Iggy in one of his lyrics.
