In the first set video for Better Call Saul, a spin-off of Breaking Bad centering on Walter White’s crooked lawyer Saul Goodman, we get interviews from series regulars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, and Orphan Black‘s Michael Mando. “Better Call Saul,” which is Saul’s slogan said during all of his commercials, is also the title of the second season episode of Breaking Bad where Walter and Jesse Pinkman meet Saul for the very first time.
The series will take place six years before Saul meets Walter, although events during and after the conclusion of Breaking Bad will also be shown — making Better Call Saul more of a semi-prequel.
In the set video, the title card shows that Saul’s real name is Jimmy McGill. The cast and crew of Better Call Saul talk about how most of the same team members that worked on Breaking Bad are back. Jonathan Banks is reprising his role as Mike Ehrmantraut, who will be Saul’s private investigator in the series.
McKean is playing Saul’s brother, Chuck McKill, with Mando as Nacho Vargo, who could possibly be one of Saul’s clients. Both Seehorn’s character Kim Wexler and Fabian’s Howard Hamlin appear to be lawyers — and could be courtroom rivals for Saul.
Better Call Saul will premiere sometime in February 2015 on AMC.
