Is this a parody? This has got to be a parody.
Keanu Reeves makes his return to action movies with his upcoming flick John Wick, bringing his now legendary one-note line delivery to a film about a retired hit-man who takes bloody revenge on people who broke into his house and killed his dog. Cue the anguished cries of trailer viewers around the world: “NO. NOT THE PUPPY. ANYTHING BUT THE PUPPY.”
It’s basically another “ex-military/assassin/gangster is forced back into the business FOR REVENGE after his wife/girlfriend/child/friend is killed,” only with a cute beagle puppy in place of the wife/girlfriend/child/friend. I can’t tell if I think it’s genius or just plain weird.
There are a lot of gems in this trailer, number one being “That dog was a final gift from my dying wife.” (Closely followed by: “It’s personal,” “That nobody is John Wick,” and “People keep asking if I’m back. Yeaaahh. I’m thinking I’m back.”)
The big take-away, though, is don’t mess with John Wick. And definitely do not mess with his pets.
