Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. We last saw Captain America in The Avengers butting heads with Iron Man and eventually fighting alongside him, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye in what became known in the Marvel movie universe as the Battle of New York. Black Widow – sporting a sleek new hairdo – plays a prominent role in Winter Soldier, as well, as we see in the above trailer.
In Winter Soldier, we’re introduced to the first African-American superhero in Marvel history – The Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. And Sebastian Stan returns this time as the villainous Winter Soldier. In the comics, after Bucky Barnes’ presumed death, he’s actually found alive by a group of Russian scientists who program him to become a Soviet assassin and give him the codename Winter Soldier. He also shares a romantic history with Black Widow, which would explain Scarlett Johansson’s large presence in the movie.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters April 4, 2014 in the United States. Are you excited?
