Laura Prepon Says Goodbye to “Orange Is the New Black”

Actress Who Plays Alex Vause Is Leaving “Orange Is the New Black”

Laura Prepon (That 70’s Show) will no longer be a cast member on Netflix’s critically-acclaimed original series, Orange Is the New Black. Prepon played Alex Vause, an inmate who was romantically involved with main character Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling). Vause, who had a history with Chapman, was convicted for her part in an international drug trading business.

The series is currently filming season 2. Prepon will return briefly to wrap up her character’s storyline. According to BuzzFeed:

Prepon will come back for a limited number of episodes in the show’s 13-episode second season in order to resolve her story. And the door will be left often for her to return in the future. But the actress did not sign a contract tying her to the show for the upcoming season.

Vause played a significant role in Chapman’s storyarc, so it’ll be interesting to see where the series goes from here. All in all, Vause was one of the dullest and least interesting characters on the show for me, so I’m not particularly heartbroken over this news.

Fans of the Piper/Alex pairing are not going to happy, however. Personally, I enjoyed seeing Chapman interact with the other inmates more and this’ll hopefully open up the possibility for other potential couples.
