Much as I love horror films, there are two things that I do not, at all, fuck with: creepy dolls, and demon children. Based on the trailer below, The Conjuring has both of those in spades.
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse.
Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
Starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor, the film is reportedly so terrifying that it garnered an R-rating purely for “sequences of disturbing violence and terror.” If that isn’t a divine selling point for a horror movie, I don’t know what is.
I’ll admit, nothing about the trailer actually scared me (besides the aforementioned dolls and children, but that’s more a personal fear than anything) but I have hope that this film will at the very least give us some great storytelling.
The Conjuring is set for release on July 19.
